Introduction
High Voltage Break Down Tester, Model HV-55 is designed to meet testing requirements of dielectric strength tests in various electrical gadgets, appliances, components and electrical insulating material used or manufactured in industries. Test can be carried out following simple initial setting of control i.e. required test voltage, maximum trip or leakage current and required test duration. Following these initial settings, operator can carry out High Voltage test without interaction with instrument controls (unless change in the settings is desired.) One single switch controls test On/Off /Reset function. Since the test parameters and their limits are set initially, repetitive tests can be carried out consistently eliminating human errors.Instrument incorporates specially designed for High Voltage AC output and DC output and to leakage current. These test sockets are designed considering operators’ safety to electrical shock hazard. High voltage electrical contacts are deep inside the sockets to avoid inadvertent human contact. Test prods comprise of Teflon Cable covered with Silicon rubber sleeve and a connector that connects to instrument.
During testing, if the current through the specimen exceeds pre-set value as set on the Current Limit potentiometer, high Voltage Test is discontinued immediately while "TRIP" LED glows and sound annunciation is trigged. Equipment comprises of servo controlled Variable Auto Transformer for applying High Voltage to the device under test. This ensures long trouble free service of equipment. Carefully designed current sensing circuitry ensures accurate results of measurements. HV probes are designed using PVC insulating material having good electrical insulation properties.
